The sad, lonely life of an unrequited lover recounted using the date due flap of an obscure academic tome as the metaphor:

A lonely book

The 40-year-old demi-vierge.

What's the eight-digit number at Webster Groves?
 



I believe it represents an incomplete telephone number as the expression of almost, but not quite, falling in love.

Using an ILL identifier as metaphor.
 



I remember fondly the library in Webster Groves when we lived there (20 years ago). Now we are far away. Smaller libraries are best in many ways.
