Denver Pit Bull Genocide
One more reason not to live in Colorado: Denver has declared all Pit Bulls illegal and is now rounding them up and killing them:
    It has to be one of the dumbest laws, ever. And I don't even own or like pit bulls. It's nothing personal, only that I'd never keep any animal that eats as much or more than I do.

    Still, I can weep for the pit bulls of Denver, particularly for the puppies that never did anything other than get born into the breed.

    Yet here we have the city of Denver, newly sprung from legislative and judicial restraint, rounding up pits over the past couple of days and killing them like rats during The Plague.

    A uniformed officer arrives at a home. "I'll get him," she announces to her partner. Rather than fight it all, a distraught man emerges, weighs going to jail and a fine, and in the end hands over his dog.
Well, there you have it again. The government confiscates and destroys things which are abused, mishandled, misbehave, or misused by a few. For the Children, no doubt. Soon, the government will only allow us to have nice foam (not polyurethane, which is flammable, but something more spongebobby). For everything.

UPDATE: Wait! I have a sudden bad governance inspiration! Couple your pit bull confiscation with this lunacy, and it's own an illegal pit bull, lose your house!

No, no, no...it's a reason not to live in Denver - not Colorado in general. There are three distinct areas of the state that must be avoided to maintain sanity. One is Denver, another Boulder, and the last, the Aspen area.

Denver itself has been a lost cause for quite some time now. They've still got their "assault weapons ban" in place, despite the sunsetting of the Federal version, for instance. Also, despite Colorado's status as a "shall issue" state, Denver has instructed its police officers to treat any traffic stop involving a CCW permit holder as a "felony stop", meaning that officers wait for backup, and then approach with sidearms drawn. This, of course, for the last group of folks with whom you'd need to deal in this fashion.

Denver's one big bureaucratic nuthouse, in general.

THIS IS BULLSHIT!!! KILLING OFF AN ENTIRE BREED OF AN ANIMAL TO HIDE THE FACT THAT THESE STUPID PEOPLE WHO BREED THEM MADE THEM THAT WAY!! THIS IS SO STUPID. KILLING THESE ANIMALS ISNT SOLVING THE PROBLEM . WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IS THE PEOPLE WHO BREED THEM SHOULD BE GETTING PUNISHED!! ALL THAT THIS LAW IS DOING IS ASKING FOR ANOTHER BREED OF ANIMAL TO BE USED, MISTREATED AND ABUSED!!

I just don't get why they can't take the blame for what they did. An animal will not attack unless it is at first provoked to a high degree and even then it hesitates. The dogs are innocent and being tortured for no logical reason. I would like to know what the people setting out this law would feel if they were told they were going to be murdered because of someone else's folly.

Pitbulls have a genetic known defect (a chemical imbalance that causes them to maim and kill). Generally the part of the population that own pitbulls are also genetically effected in the same way, mostly poor and criminal elements. These dogs do not need to be trained to attack. There are many thousands of cases where pitbulls that have never been harmed or abnormally effected have attack and also killed. The entire World population needs these dogs genocided for the purpose of protecting the innocent. If you own one and it attacks, both the owner and dog should be put down.

Thanks for the lesson in canine eugenics and human eugenics and the reminder why those ill-conceived notions have fallen out of favor for the most part except for the anonymous on the Internet.
